Finn having no repercussions for publicly outing Santana
I’m still pissed about that.
I don’t watch Glee but this is infuriating. Outing someone against their will is reprehensible and unforgivable, and the fact that he didn’t face any repercussions for it is mind-blowing in the worst possible way.
Finn is the worst kind of character and I don’t even think the creators know it. He says and does things that down right disgusting and gets away with it week in and week out by playing on the dumb jock role when he knows exactly what he’s doing. When she slapped the dog piss out of him, he deserved so much worse for all the things he’s done.
I was shocked that she got in trouble for slapping Finn.
And what else killls me with Glee- zero repercussions for blatant racism. Whether it be microaggression or telling Santana to go smack a pinata… it’s always played for comedy. Always.
Oh, and the Mike Chang Asian jokes make me want to scream.
White Male Hetero Jock > Hispanic Female Lesbian Cheerleader/Everyone else of any minority in glee club forever.
Santana and Mercedes are the only minority students in glee that actually stand up for themselves and they get treated like crap, though Santana less because if people squint heard enough they can just pretend she’s Italian or Greek.
Mike and Tina are willing to stay in the background, though since Mike’s a guy he gets more out there roles while they just.. forgot Tina in the last episode.
Also long as white people don’t complain that it’s racist (because they are the experts on race related issues), then it’s fine and no one else should have a problem with the racism, sizism, ableism, and slut shaming that goes on in glee.
Because the sad thing is, if bullying hadn’t become so big in the media, this show would have been a lot worse and instead of wrapping up little “disagreements” like the Santana situation by saying “Oh BTW my parents were totes cool KByeThx lol text it”, they probably wouldn’t even had done that.
Flawless commentary above is flawless. If this were still the dark comedy it was back in S1, this right here would get a pass; but it’s not anymore, so bs like this shouldn’t just be able to float by. Meanwhile, when the characters of color - and particularly Mercedes - rightfully call folk out on their bs, they get excoriated by fandom. Ugh. If this cast weren’t so flaw free, I woulda been peaced out on Glee.
